Who gets to answer?
You brought the first reply. Help them keep the next promise.
A newly reliable exchange between Lantern Quay and Dawnwall brings an old family message, a real supply request, and seven competing offers into the same dispatch room. The crew helps turn a first reply into a service that the people at both ends can trust.
The first reply has already been corroborated by technicians. The player arrives for its first public service run, not to discover the only living people on Veyra. A recovered message batch travels through the same equipment, creating a painful confusion between a voice from the past and a person speaking now. A modest filter delivery becomes the reason powerful institutions notice the connection.
The dramatic question is who may speak for a reopened service. The player carries evidence, challenges offers, and proposes workable terms. The dispatch crew and the receiving yard retain the right to decide what they will undertake. The finale is a successful second watch: the connection survives an ordinary fault after the ceremonial speeches have ended.
This is an opening campaign after basic flight, task, and recovery instruction. It is written for a solo pilot with authored NPC assistance or an eligible mixed-faction crew. Any of the six starting allegiances can complete every core mission. An already eligible Directorate character may revisit through distinct dialogue without acquiring the right to seize the endpoints. Reading its offer never joins the faction.
Open to anyone
Any starting allegiance can follow the whole story. Faction abilities are useful expressions of how you work, never exclusive keys.
Where it happens
- Lantern Quay dispatch post
- A proposed room within the existing homeland: public arrival boards, an archive reader, a private listening booth, and a loading desk. Lysa records incoming traffic; Ren delegates this service trial to the dispatch team. Contacts from other homelands can introduce the same work without requiring seven introductory journeys.
- Dawnwall receiving yard
- A proposed work area within the existing homeland: a filter bench, stores cage, receiving terminal, and meeting table. Dalen is authorized by this yard’s workers to negotiate its maintenance commitments. He does not speak for every citizen or independent settlement.
- The connection between them
- The existing Dawnwall–Lantern Quay charter route supplies the geography. Protected cores do not make its entire length safe. The opening treatment calls for eligible dispatch work, prepared handoffs, and clearly disclosed travel rules; it does not grant sanctuary to the corridor. No new map coordinate, hidden refuge entrance, or orbital leg is introduced.

A voice in the room
Sort a stored family message from a living service request, then let its recipient choose how to receive it.
Can an old message bring someone home without pretending its sender is still here?
The answer has weight
Get a real filter to Dawnwall, fulfill Avi’s chosen delivery, and bring back proof of receipt.
What turns a promise over the radio into something a neighbor can use?
Seven offers
Question all seven factions and uncover the cost behind each promise, including the Directorate’s concealed claim.
Who is helping the service, and who is using it to gain power?
The terms of return
Recommend a service plan, hear the endpoint crews’ decision, and build the connection they authorize.
Can the player help people make a durable choice without making it for them?
The second watch
Return after the celebration, repair the selected plan’s first ordinary fault, and help the local crew carry on without you.
Does the promise still hold when there is no crowd to see it?
Two ways it ends
Both endings resolve the same question. They differ in who carries the work afterwards.
Open Watch
At the board, the next staffed shift is named. The worker answers a fresh request while Dalen drinks his cooling tea. A line on the notice admits that the trial postponed optional yard expansion. Frequent contact has a cost someone has agreed to carry.
Follow-up jobs concern shift handovers, worn couplings, and openly negotiated capacity. The service does not become infinitely available.
Carried Light
The reserve rack is counted, the next exchange window is posted, and a courier takes the acknowledged receipt. A request arriving between windows is marked waiting, with the fallback contact beside it. Resilience costs speed, and nobody hides the wait.
Follow-up jobs concern finite stock checks, receipt reconciliation, and agreed courier runs. The service does not claim to provide continuous contact.
